BKKDEV – Bangkok Discovery & Exploration Ventures

We started BKKDEV because we got tired of the same travel advice everywhere: “go here at sunrise”, “book this tour”, “take the perfect photo”. It all felt scripted, polished, and strangely empty.
So we decided to do it differently.
Bangkok became our symbol – not because we only write about Thailand, but because it’s the perfect metaphor: chaotic on the surface, layered underneath, full of hidden doors if you know where to look. From there the curiosity spreads – to quiet islands, back-alley rituals, jungle paths, neon-lit basements in other cities.

What Drives Us

We believe the deepest travel memories aren’t made at famous viewpoints.

That’s the feeling we chase – and the one we want to help you find.

They happen when:

a local invites you to sit on their porch for tea

you stumble into an unmarked alley and hear live music drifting out

a boatman slows down to point at a kingfisher instead of rushing to the next stop

you sit alone in a ruined temple and realize nobody else is coming

How We Work

Every story, route and trip is built to leave things better than we found them: less trash, more respect, more money staying local.

We only write about places we’ve been to ourselves, multiple times, at different hours and seasons.

Our guides and expeditions are small on purpose – never more than eight people, often fewer.

We partner with families, small homestays, independent boatmen and artisans, not big chains.

If you travel with BKKDEV – through our stories, our curated routes or our guided journeys – you won’t get the “best” version of Asia according to algorithms.
You’ll get the real one: imperfect, quiet in places, loud in others, full of small kindnesses and unexpected beauty.
